Review Antec True Power Quattro 850w

Review Antec True Power Quattro 850w

Antec has recently hit a couple of home runs in the chassis department with their P190 and P-180 cases.  Both of these cases offer excellent noise dampening qualities as well as providing huge amounts of storage.  The one little secret that everyone seems to have forget about is that Antec also has a nice power supply division.
For those keeping score the True Power Quattro  comes in two different sizes ranging from the 850 watt which we are reviewing today to 1200 watt unit. Either unit is bound to provide you with more power than most system would ever require.

After putting the putting the Antec True Power Quattro 850 watt power supply through our series of tests I can safely say that it can handle any thing we tossed at it.  The power supply is extremely well built  and carries a 3-ywar warranty. I have to say that we were initially concerned that the power supply only had a single 80mm fan but it was very evident during our tests that the single fan did it's job very well as we were able to feel warm air being blown out the rear of the supply.

TruePower Quattro is the most efficient power supply to date in Antec's successful TruePower line due to Active Power Clamping technology. The active clamp forward converter allows the use of smaller components, reducing the overall size of the PSU to further conserve energy.

The environmentally friendly unit is 80PLUS(R) certified, operating at up to 85% efficiency rates to deliver continuous full-rated power while guaranteeing a high level of performance. In addition, Active Power Factor Correction helps to reduce electrical waste for effective energy use. The PSU is fitted with heavy-duty protection circuitry to prevent damage resulting from short circuits, over voltages, under voltages and over current to keep systems running safely and smoothly.

TruePower Quattro is available in two models: 850 Watts and 1000 Watts, making it Antec's highest wattage power supply. To provide an increase in stability, the power supply comes equipped with four +12V rails for equal distribution of power throughout for the system. Universal Input automatically adjusts for 100V to 240V power grids, and Quattro is designed to support EPS12V v2.91 and ATX12V systems.

With a price tag of about $170 some dollars + or - a few either way this puts it approximately in the same price range as most 1KW power supplies but the one thing a large number of the other supplies can't say they have is the backing and support of Antec Computer and that can be priceless when your talk about product value.
